Cancellation policy
1. General
This cancellation policy applies to all bookings made via StaySmart.no or our affiliated platforms. By completing a booking, the guest agrees to these terms. StaySmart operates in accordance with
Norwegian consumer protection law and
short-term rental legislation.
2. Cancellation Before Check-in
- More than 30 days before check-in: Full refund minus a 5% administration fee.
- 15–30 days before check-in: 50% refund of the rental amount.
- Less than 15 days before check-in: No refund.
3. Short-term and Festival/Event Bookings
Bookings for festivals, high season, or special events are
non-refundable after booking. This ensures availability for other guests and covers pre-arranged obligations.
4. Changes to Booking
Changes to dates or rental units may be accepted subject to availability. Any price differences will be invoiced or refunded. Changes must be requested
at least 14 days before the original check-in date. StaySmart reserves the right to decline changes if availability does not allow.
5. Deposits and Prepayments
Deposits and prepayments will be refunded in accordance with the points above. StaySmart reserves the right to deduct administration fees or other costs already incurred.
6. Force Majeure and Illness
In the event of documented illness or other unforeseen circumstances beyond the guest’s control (force majeure), StaySmart will consider partial refunds on a case-by-case basis. Proof of the event must be provided.
7. Condition of the Property and Breach of Rules
Guests are expected to leave the property in a
respectable condition at check-out. Normal use and minor disorder associated with a typical stay are acceptable. Any damages, vandalism, or significant misuse of the property will be invoiced to the guest. StaySmart reserves the right to use all available documentation (including photos, video, and written reports) to support the invoice. If payment is not made, StaySmart may forward the debt to a collections agency or take legal action to recover the amount.
Any additional costs incurred due to rule violations, property damage, or failure to clean will be charged to the guest in addition to the rental amount. StaySmart reserves the right to withhold part of the deposit to cover these costs.
8. Formal Cancellation
All cancellations must be made in writing via email to
booking@staysmart.no or through the booking system. Cancellations via phone are
not considered formal.
9. Policy Updates
StaySmart reserves the right to amend this cancellation policy. Guests are encouraged to check
staysmart.no/terms-and-conditions for the latest version before booking.
10. Legal Reference
These terms comply with Norwegian law, including:
- Consumer Purchases Act (short-term rentals)
- Tenancy Act for short-term rentals
- GDPR and data privacy regulations (for handling personal data in connection with bookings)
